Excel Scuba Team

Ryland - Master Instructor

Some people call it delegating, I call it allowing other instructors to develop their own skills by being able to teach without me cramping their style being in the pool actively teaching.

So I mostly drive the van ;-)

Shaun - IDC Staff Instructor

Shaun is an experienced Padi staff instructor who has worked in many parts of Europe in the diving industry.  A fully qualified paramedic in the UK leaves you in very safe hands.  Motorcycle racing, Track Days, football and anything you can put petol in are on Shaun's hobbies list, his passion for diving though started after he left the British army in 2005.

Michelle - Staff Instructor

PADI IDC Staff Instructor with Excel Scuba.

My hobbies include Diving, Holidays and mini breaks. I have had some epic holidays around the world to re-charge and re-energise.  I believe we need to work hard and play hard and get the best life experience we possibly can.  For my day job I work as a Logistics manager at Selecta UK, one of Europe’s leading vending companies, ‘we are passionate about our coffee’!  However not as passionate as I am of Diving, the underwater world is the most amazing place and I intend to spend as much time exploring it as I can along with visiting as many cities above and below the water as I can afford.

Tanya  - Master Scuba Diver Trainer

Tanya loves to teach in a fun and friendly way and makes great safe divers from all of her courses, she has a passion for the outdoors and in particular anything in, on or skimming over water, i would say she almost has gills!

Steve - Assistant Instructor

Hi my name’s Steve Newman, I’ve acquired the nick name of “Dr Love”….. a long story, but apparently I have a soothing, calming, hypnotic type voice that has given me this title,

I can’t hear it myself, but I am told that it’s true

Colin - Assistant Instructor

Hi! I’m Colin; a PADI Assistant Instructor with Excel Scuba. I started diving in 2006 and haven't stopped diving since. Over the last ten years I’ve ranked well over a 1000 dives, and have dived mainly in the UK and some nice parts of the world; America, the Canary Islands, Egypt, Cyprus to name but a few. I also love wreck diving and have dived a number of wrecks including those around the Maltese Islands , North Carolina ,Cyprus and Egypt.

Rachel - Divemaster

I learned to dive in Dahab, Egypt in 2005 doing both my Open Water and Advanced Open Water

qualifications on my two week holiday. I then simply dived whenever I was on holiday hiring my kit

from the dive centres so experienced diving in Egypt several times, Menorca and Cuba. I then

joined Excel Scuba in 2010 and started by learning how to dive in a dry suit in the lake near

Tamworth. I was expecting this to be grim after warmer (and clearer!) waters but was pleasantly

surprised, numerous fish, crayfish as well as things sunk for divers exploration – cars, caravans and a

plane! I then trained with the Club and completed my Rescue Course and progressed onto my

current qualification of Divemaster. I have around 170 dives and have now dived in many more

locations both here in the UK and abroad. When I’m not diving I can usually be found pottering

round my garden or trying not to fall off my mountain bike!!
